Today, Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law the beneficial Senate Bill 1070, sponsored by Senator Russell Pearce. This bill will provide law enforcement with an important tool to enforce laws against illegal immigration and will make Arizona a safer place.
A full 70 percent of Arizona voters support SB 1070, while only 23 percent oppose it, according to a new Rasmussen poll. In Arizona, 84 percent of Republicans and even the majority of Democrats approve of SB 1070.
“‘Illegal’ is not a race; it’s a crime,” said Sen. Pearce. He noted that this bill, officially called the “Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act,” takes the handcuffs off law enforcement.
